Can we include External container data in builds and deployments

@Peter_Wagemans asked.

When deploying - and migrating - a FileMaker solution, It’s a good idea to completely ignore RC_Data.

When copying the production file back to development, it’s a good idea to replace or synchronise the RC_Data folder, so it matches production.

For some of my customers that folder contains millions of files, and I solve it by using separate sync software. Probably not a good idea to have it done automatically. Especially on Windows - lol, we would see the continents move while we wait for that to finish.

For smaller development it seems like a nice option to have. Some IT organisations are OK with OttoFMS, but don’t give me access to manually copy stuff. So this would save me the extra mail to ask them to do it for me.

Hi Peter

OttoFMS version 4.8 and OttoDeploy 2.1 shipped this week with support for adding external container data to builds and deployments.

We think you should use caution when trying to include large amounts of files. You are going to need a lot of available space on the build server to copy the files and zip it into the build package.

But we have successfully tested it with 25 Gbs of external container data.
