OttoFMS Version 4.7.1 released!

Hey y’all,

OttoFMS version 4.7.1 was just released! This version includes a bunch of bug fixes (and some new features we’re hiding in a patch version). Highlights include:

  • Save a file as XML right from the OttoFMS console
  • Keeping files closed after they are uploaded.
  • Protections and retries for unstable FMS and for the dbs_config file being locked.
  • General UI improvements to the dashboard (fancy new loading state on the front page)
  • and tons of other bug fixes!

Check out the Changelog for the full list of changes. As always, let us know if you have any issues on install or running the new version. Check out the updating OttoFMS docs for details on how to install.

Out of curiosity, do you think triggering an update from the OttoFMS console will ever be a thing?

@kduval the script is downloading and installing 4.7.0

Hey @john_r ,

I’ve purged some caches, can you try again for me?

We’ve thought about it, but there are some details of the implementation of a self-updating OttoFMS that are a bit bothersome. Its definitely on the list, and I suspect that we will get to it at some point.

Also, more so a note for myself, but could be helpful or others. I ran the stock Otto update command line on a Mac FMS yesterday, and it worked… but the OttoFMS console page (that I had open before the update) was still reporting the previous version. I ran the update again and same thing. I had to click the restart OttoFMS button in the console to get it to show the new version. Just seemed odd that installing the update didn’t also “restart” things? :man_shrugging:t2:

Yes that’s worked thanks!

well that is strange, I have not seen that one before. Thanks for the callout!
