(forum wont let me use ‘reduced access users’ as topic title as apparently it has lots of the same letter repeated!)
for a test have set up an admin console users with access to just one folder, which work like you would expect
I can’t seem to add an AdminAPI key for that user in Otto, and plain trying to log in with that user fails also
have I missed something, is it not implemented, is it possible?
Sadly, it is not quite se easy as it might seem. OttoFMS uses both the Command Line fmsadmin tool and the Admin API. I am certain that the fmsadmin tool does not work with reduced access users. I am pretty sure the Admin API doesn’t either.
OttoFMS needs to have the Full Access user name and password to work. So to support reduced users we will need to add our own “User” accounts, and manage those. It is a relatively big lift considering the risk of adding a new Auth layer, so we haven’t done it yet.
Context is looking at a user being able to find and download a backup off the server, where it is like the every 2 hours one and I realised I made a mistake at 10 this morning - so its not being move to an offsite location. Because of teh beautiful file browser in Otto I was wondering about a cut down experience
I guess FMS is in fact ahndlign its own ‘users’ so that you can log into the admin console with “LIMITEDUSER” and a password and just see the files in one folder.
You are doing a few tricks to see the other folders that we cant see even with the Admin API… I could write a shell script to do the work, but the user has to be able to pick a folder that matches a backup name exactly
