Hi. I have just installed OttoFMS v4.9 on a server running Windows Server 2019 & FileMaker Server 21.0.2. The installation ran fine but when I connect to Otto the Otto Dashboard briefly appears before being replaced with a page saying that Something unexpected happened - “The string did not match the expected pattern.”. I have refreshed the page several times & the same thing happens.
Hey Carl,
If you open up the browser console (right click and press inspect) and head to the Console tab, does it give you any idea of what the string was that did not match the expected pattern?

Hey Carl,
Could you DM me your otto-info.log file? I’d like to take a look there. Could you also grab a screenshot of the “Network” tab on your browser console? I suspect that one of the network requests is returning an error response that is getting parsed strangely.
We’ve also seen similar issues when the FileMaker license is expired, is your license up to date?

Hi Kyle
I think I have discovered the issue. FileMaker Server has access restrictions configured to only allow access from certain IP addresses. If I access Otto from an IP address allowed by FMS then Otto works but if I access from an IP address that is not allowed then I get the “Something unexpected happened” message.
Enabling Access Restrictions on FMS also prevents adding the server to the Ottomatic Cloud Console. Will it also affect running migrations?
Hey Carl,
That definitely explains it. Sorry we don’t have a better error message for that, I’ll see if I can get a better error in there.
As for the migrations, once the deployment is running it should be fine, as the communication with FileMaker Server is all handled locally on the server.

At the moment there is no way to add servers with IP restrictions to the Ottomatic Cloud Console, although we are planning on adding an option that could open up the cloud console to servers behind a firewall or running ip restrictions.
