Unable to run Otto Service on Windows 19 Server

Hello,

I have been trying to install OttoFMS on a Windows Server 2019 Standard

I initially received the below error and the installation was completed, but when trying to access the Otto FMS page, I also receive an error.

I have tried uninstalling, and reinstalling Otto and I am also unable to start the Otto FMS service as it seems paused.

There was an Otto V3 installation previously on this machine but I did uninstall it as well.

Anyone with any ideas on how to get this installed?

I have also attached the error log in case this helps

Hello Alexis

The standard error log you helpfully sent along shows a problem with the following system command.

where fmsadmin

OttoFMS needs the fmsadmin command to do lots of stuff and it it can’t find it. We should improve that error handling. But the underlying problem seems to be that fmsadmin isn’t available on that computer.

Can you run fmsadmin -v on the terminal? Does that correctly return the version of FileMaker Server?

If it does, then try where fmsadmin. Does that return the location of the fmsadmin binary?

If it can’t then there could be a problem with your FileMaker Server installation. Is there anything unusual about how you install FileMaker Servers? Is it on a different disk? If the installation is failry standard then I would reinstall FileMaker Server.

Let us know what happens

Thanks

Todd

Hi Todd,

you are right, it does not locate fmsadmin which is bizarre.

I will reinstall FM server. I did upgrade recently from FM Server 19 to 20 so maybe something went wrong during the upgrade.

Will revert back.

Thanks,

Alexis

Hi Todd,

it seems the FM Server re installation worked and OttoFMS is now running on the machine.

I will attempt a few migrations and come back if there are any problems.

Many Thanks,

Alexis
