Why do I now have lots of backup.config?

For each and every offsite backup script, as well as the file I have copied to offsite I have a backup.config cluttering up my folder listings
Is there a necessity to do this, or can it be some kind of preference?

Hey John,

That is a file that is created by FileMaker, it looks like it contains some metadata about the backups. I can imagine that it would clutter up your folders to have them all over the place. I’m not sure about FileMaker preferences to prevent the creation of the file, I suspect that FileMaker needs the file to get data about the backup after the fact.

It didn’t used to happen when we just had the one script option…
But then it feels like this is a new FMS thing, just found it in the backup folder

OttoFMS doesn’t make any changes to the backups that get put on the server (unless you’ve set the schedule to keep 0 backups), so it must be a new FMS thing.

It started a couple of versions back.

Thanks
Going to ask a question about that on the Community. Feels like a debugging thing that got let on, and to someone who likes tidy folders this is nails down backboard!!
